Yesterday, around 4am my friend drove himself to the hospital. He was sick for the past few days and his tonsil was swollen so bad that he had a hard time breathing. He's all okay and asked me to pick him up. I went over to give him a ride home. He said that the hospital food was awful for both lunch and dinner. He's taking antibiotic for his throat and is recovering quickly. Before we could leave, the hospital lost his shoes. His shoes was nowhere to be found. Instead, they gave him "sure-grip socks," a sock with rubber sole on the bottom. It was hilarious. Then I took him home before going to my meeting with Residence Life. After the meeting, I helped him get his car from the hospital. We drove seperately to Burger King. I went to the drive through and asked for a Whopper Jr.. The guy at the booth held a sign "No Burger, Buns Whopper Only." I asked him if there was no meat? "no meat" Really no meat? "Yeah no meat" Buns only burger sounds very veggie. I was disappointed that I could not get anything to eat there. I pulled over and my friend drove through and ordered a meal. I got in his car and warned him about the no meat. He was confused and already ordered his meal. We asked the guy at the booth, "no meat?" and he held a sign again and replied "no meat" nodding like an idiot. Then we asked him to give us free whopper sandwich coupon but he would not. So we left thinking that we got a vegatarian burger (no meat) from Burger King. We went to my place so that I can make myself peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My friend opened his whopper and saw the meat in there. I was shocked to why the guy at burger king made it so confusing. What an idiot, I could have ordered a whopper meal if the sign was more clear. He should have written, "Whopper Meal only, no buns for other options."

Today, Student Life Team had an open house today. It was a gathering of students, staffs, and former Community Student Advocates. The theme was "Emergency Room" and snacks was provided. They also have raffles of 3 RIT blankets and 7" digital Polaroid picture frame. I went at 12pm to get a ticket and snacks. I came back every time they drew a number. I did not win any of the blankets so I went back to work. Luckily Ganesh paged me to come back to the open house to hear the 4th number. I was out in the hall looking into the glass and saw them shout out "562" and was shocked because that was my number. I tapped on the glass waving like an idiot and tried to open a locked door. Someone let me in the room. The person who drew the number asked if I was serious and I was laughing hard because the numbers matched. Its strange that its the second item that I won from the community. The first was a TV from Applefest and now a digital photo frame from SLT. What's next???

RIT's 10th Brick City Homecoming [Oct. 7th, 2007|11:31 am]
It was a fun weekend. Probably my first Brick City Homecoming that I actually attended most of the events. Other years I did not really give too much attention to it. I started off with Rihanna concert on Friday with Stephen, Norb, Alice, and Mei. It was a busy day and we arrived at the entrance 2 hours before the show at 8pm. The line extended from the top of the stairs near the ticket box office and all the way down into the parking lots. I would assume that more than 3,500 people came to see Rihanna (4,800 maximum capacity for seatings). Her performance were the same routine that Stephen and I saw in Toronto 2 weeks ago. Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto has a venue capacity of 16,000 people and I'm sure when we were there, it was a full house. It was nice seeing her again. There were some hardcore fans (some ignorant) who had the nerve to push people around in the mosh pit. I was only 5 feet away from the stage in the mosh pit. For the Rihanna concert, I spent 4-5 hours standing for her performance. The next day, I woke up at 6am to drive to Lima Country Golf Club to volunteer for community service. I went with Norb and Stephen. The funny moment in the car was when Stephen brushed his teeth in my back seat while I was speeding on the highway. I looked back and laughed, I told him, "What's next? blow bubbles and pretend you are taking a shower too?" We arrived at the golf course and met with Brian, Alyssa, Alayna, and Kari. We all volunteered to drive the golf carts and help the NTID alumni with their bags and take measurements of the distance between the ball and the hole at short and long drive. We had some fooling around with the golf cart to kill time. Norb and I got in trouble near the club house for spinning the golf cart around the dumpster and the putting green with Alayna at the back. The lady came out scolding at both of us and took away the golf carts from all the volunteers. It was sure fun! After that, I dropped Norb off at Dino BBQ and went with Stephen to Howie Mandell's performance. I laughed so hard and almost lost my lung two times. Howie Mandell was really funny. I like the videos that he showed as a shampoo boy and annoying cell phone user. Today, I went for a 5K run at Grace Watson sponsored by Residence Life, Phi Sigma Pi, and the Running Club. It was my first 5K I participated. I ran for 28.5 minutes (28:28:46). I was 81th person out of 124 people who ran. It was a good thing that I have practiced running on the treadmill before doing the event. It took me 30 minutes to get to 2.44 miles (25 minutes jogging, 5 minutes cool down). I was surprised that I did 3.1 miles in 28.5 minutes jogging with a backpack. If I had not brought my bag with me, I could have had shorter time jogging. Thanks to Dylan and his Dad for inviting me. Dylan's dad won 1st for his age category. Tonight I will be going to Dino BBQ with Dylan and his parents with Stephen. I cannot wait for that BBQ rib tease.

I'm definitely not looking forward to Monday because I have not touched my homework and study for the arabic quiz. Cram time!

1st post of Fall 07 [Sep. 23rd, 2007|01:55 pm]
I know I haven't use Livejournal much. Tomorrow is the 4th week of Fall quarter and time sure fly by. I'm glad to have the opportunity to get out of Rochester with Stephen Persinger. He had two tickets for Acon/Rihanna concert in Toronto (September 22, 2007) and could not find someone to go with him. For some lucky reason, I was free to attend. We drove 3 hours to Toronto from RIT. Once we got there, we parked at the Ontario Place where the Molson Amphitheatre was. They were having their annual Chinese Latern Festival and the concert for Acon/Rihanna. We arrived there around 4pm and the concert did not start until 8pm. We walked the streets of Parkside. Mainly King St. W and Queen St. West. First, we stopped at Medieval Castle because I've been to one in Chicago and it was fun seeing horse entertainment while eating food with our bare hands. Unfortunately, the showtime was not in our time frame and it was $60 to eat there. We decided to check out that Gossip Restaurant we saw on the way and realized our dress code did not appear to meet the restaurant's standard (very fancy dining). We were too early for dinner at Gossip and decided to go for a low-budget meal. We walked along Dufferin Street and saw Subway on King Street. Ate there and then decided to walk around some more. Stephen saw a black squirrel for the first time and I tripped saying that I wished I could live in a life of a squirrel to see what it is like. Squirrels hunt for nuts and hop from trees to trees. We went into the residential area and saw houses were tightly connected. These houses were beautifully designed and I wished Colony Manor or Riverknoll would be something similar. Saw Gladstone House on Gladstone Avenue, Stephen mentioned it was a street he lived on in another state. We saw some stores with some artwork features on the exterior of the building. One advertisement board has a naked embarrased couple showing their back and it said "place for rent." There was another place with black and white painting of people in action (Dr. Seuss style) and some weird blue sculpture. We kept walking on Queen Street and stopped at Bar One for a chat. Then we head out to see some more places. We saw some dog parks and one of them have a homeless man playing puppet as entertainment for money at Trinity Park. We made a turn on Strachan street and then onto King Street. We passed a local football (soccer) stadium called "Allan Lamport Stadium Park." We went into a crowded pub "Shoeless Joe's" to see the Toronto FC spirits. Everyone was singing their football cheers and it felt like I was in the movie of Green Street Hooligans. Its one of my recommended movies for hardcore football (soccer) fans. We chatted with some drunk guy who thought we came in with a bunch of women since we walked behind them and hope to be introduced to "our friends." We left to return to the Ontario Place. We went under an old subway bridge and up toward the pedestrian bridge over Gardiner Expressway to take a picture of Downtown Toronto. We entered the Molson Amphitheatre and saw Acon's performance. The music has a dance club theme and some of the time he was walking across the crowd. At first I thought that a mohawk-hair guy in a skirt was Acon but it was one of his band members. After 1 hour of his performance, Rihanna appeared for her performance. Her music style was different from Acon. It was a layback and sensual music. It was fun hearing the performance and seeing the crowd participate and flash their cellphones or lighters. After the performance, we had an easy way out because we parked at the end of the parking lot away from the congested side. We sang random songs on our way back to Rochester.

Good time, fun time. I'd love to have that again at the busiest time of the quarter. A great way to get some relief from hectic schedule. Oh by the way, I'm going to the Rihanna concert again at RIT on October 5th. It will be closed captioned and interpreted.

The sugar wisdom [Mar. 13th, 2007|11:48 am]
I got this fortune cookie today and here is what was quoted.

~Ken S. Keyes Jr. (American Writer, 1921-1995)

At first the word "liberated" was mispelled "iberated" so I fixed it using photoshop. Its a good quote.

(no subject) [Oct. 22nd, 2006|12:58 pm]
Hmm... been a while that I updated my livejournal. Several things on my mind. It seemed that SAD has hit me worst this year than my past year. So much clouds these days. Its effecting my productivity, I seriously need to get up feeling fresh to do homework but again homework aren't that exciting. I did research on the internet for spectrum light therapy stuff. The dawn simulator tech are expensive. Anyway, grad school is some serious stuff. The challenge is to keep the grades 3.0 and above which means no grades below B is allowed. Its not that easy as an undergraduate because more readings and higher expectations from teachers. I have two jobs to get the cash flow into my bank but they are going out into tuitions and college expenses. Not very many scholarships are offer toward the grad students and RIT should set aside some money to support those students. I just thought about Sano, heh, I'm riding your boat. I'm surprised that my VR even put some money in my account when they were not suppose to. I'm saying nothing, heh. I have made my decision to extend my graduate program into two years instead of one because of how intense the courseworks and how serious I want to keep good grades rather than just hurry up sloppy and graduate. I wasn't happy to stay at RIT longer because then I'll have to spend more money and I have to deal with more homework. It seemed like forever! Eventually, it will be better because I'll be less stress with homework and working my jobs more to get extra income.

Oh then I thought about Gallaudet. Grr... How sloppy the administration has done to deal with this issue? From the first day they start protesting, I was rolling my eyes and wondering what are the students up to next. They keep chanting "JF resign" thousands of time which did not convince me to support them. I rather hear the fact why they protested and many students respond that she's not deaf enough. I don't discriminate the candidates based on physical or ethnic background. I was like "So, give her a chance." Its how they advertise to the public that confused some of the people at first. I was so mad and I thought the Gallaudet students are out of their mind. The protest kept growing day after day. They shut down the school for about 4 days which was not good. Where is King Jordan? He is still the acting President and he did nothing but order arrest on the students. He showed up in some protest to listen some rant but did nothing. Shame on him even though he has two months to retirement. I didn't care if Jane did not talk to the public for the summer because she hasn't officially taken her role as the President which will not start until January. I wasn't convinced about these protest until I researched onto the FSSA website. http://news.gufssa.com/category/fssa/ After reading the compliants of faculty and students with fact and polls, I eventually got the bigger picture. Jane F. has been cheating her way from tenure to provost and then the top position. She did not follow through the standard procedures of being appointed or elected. Its convincing enough that King Jordan has a role of favorism in this picture. That enraged me about how the two has been acting toward this protest. They seriously need to step down. Gallaudet Administration need to learn shared governance among its faculty, staff, students, and alumni. I wasn't pleased on how they ignored the student's cry and send out arrests. I wasn't pleased on how the administration let the protest go on for days. Its attracting too much attention and its embarassing for our deaf community.

So... When will the protest be over? Jane Fernandes... Stop being selfish and resign! If you love Gallaudet so much, follow the proper procedures. You already hurt your opportunity and reputation by being stubborn!

A voyage in the sky [Sep. 1st, 2006|11:50 pm]
I went Hot air ballooning today. I would definitely love to do it again and again and again. If only it was cheap. I went to the New York State Festival of Balloon hosted in Dansville, New York this weekend. It was fun!

Whew!

My Life Story movie have been completed. Unfortunately to the sensitivity of the software program, I was unable to burn it in different quality and size. My next project is to film American culture. I went to the mall this evening and filmed different stores until the security told me to stop. I left the mall and filmed other places. I did get a footage of the cop on a scooter. He mumbled at me before he said it was okay to film him. That makes me wonder, are all the cops required to have a mustache?

Saw "Grandma's Boy" movie with my sister and friends. Funny stuff. Wish the world was that open minded. Heh. Again, funny stuff.

Today at work is "Floatilla." This is where all the campers ride in boats volunteered by the neighboring community. People bring their boats and offer rides to our campers. It was fun putting on life jackets to all the campers. Isn't there any sun lotion higher than 45 spf? I'm getting dark and I don't want any more tan.

Went bowling with my sister and her friends recently. Load of fun! Finally I see some good thunderstorm and lightening shows. Been a while.

There's a political gossip going on about the use of pennies or to have it redesigned for effective production cost. Save the Penny!!! Its only one cent to ride a mechanical horse at meijer!

If you ever consider buying a digital camcorder... Don't buy any sony digital camcorders. I had enough trouble with DCRDVD 403 and DCRDVD 405 versions. And.... don't buy your camcorder from best buy if you planned on testing it out because of 15% restocking fee and 14 days refund. Screw you Sony for limited usage and the annoying error and uncompatibility with my software programs of my PC. Canon, no problems. Pasonic, I don't know but I heard they are the best quality and usage than any other brands.

This time, I'm testing Canon Camcorder (Elura 100). I hope it will not give me troubles like Sony and I'm sure it won't.

Anyone know how to keep nosy neighbor out of your garden space?

This neighbor is really annoying. I see her and her husband walking up their own garden every single morning, afternoon, and evening. She is really obessed with her garden. I met her yesterday and she made a couple suggestion for my empty garden bed and I simply nodded along. Now I see her going through and start analyzing our territory... Couple time, my mother caught her throwing stuff onto our side (before I started this garden project). Its like she has no respect. Grrr, damn you nosy woman! I want to do my job without you breathing on my neck!!!

My vision is a chemical free garden, I will let bugs and nature animals mingle on my garden bed. Whether she like it or not. She mantained hers for 18 years, got rid of 5 groundhogs, planted special plants that deers don't like, and drown all those bumblebees away, I'm gonna do my garden my way. Those bugs are there for a reason, and I welcome all animals because they are wonderful to see close by our house. This means flower War! YEAH!

I have some flowers that may attract bumblebees but that's how flowers pollenate and grow again next year. I didn't buy them, my mother picked out many of them. So keep your bucket of water away from my bees ya nosy neighbor!!

This morning, I woke up with a red eye but this time it was in my right one. Damn lifeguarding job. Now its gone.

All day, I've worked on the yard. I finally got all the weeds out. One flower was hidden, a tiger lily. I dug around it and left it there. There was a baby berry tree that I left there too. The garden bed is a crescent shape along the edge of the woods. I've been on this project for a week following the weather. When it rains, I stop. When its weekend, the cheap dirt shop is closed. So today was my lucky day, I managed to pull out all the weeds and fill the bed with dirts. I also went with mom to buy 4 flats of flowers (mixed) for just $1 a flat. We also got two large perennial pot of tall flowers (the look of the stem and the roots, I can split it into 4 flowers). I'm on hold again because of rain. Tomorrow is another big day to actually get more dirts and plant them down for good. The reason I got on this because the next door neighbor has a beautiful flower garden that stopped at our "boundary" and then the other neighbor has nothing so I thought it would be cool to continue the flow of garden beauty into our yard. Perhaps this will influence the next door neighbor to continue that flow (probably not).

Other projects on my mind...
1. Camcorder project (damn Sony, I hate you now)
2. Senior Project (oh boy)
3. Blinds for the Doors (must be done by next week)
4. School Business
5. Start packing for New York
6. Video project about self (have to fix number 1 to complete this)

Chef's Ego [Jul. 13th, 2006|11:16 pm]
My Delicious Jello!

Jello!

The jello mix are raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries in flavor with whip cream on top. I used real fruits.

My Delicious Cake!

Cake!

I made these for my mom's friend's birthday. She loved it and saved a slice of cake for me to taste. Its double layer chocolate cake of chocolate fudge cake with chocolate moouse frosting and chocolate sprinkles with hershey kisses.

After she had the party with her guests who had the share of my desserts, she wanted me to work for her restuarant. I was flattered to hear that. I can't wait to live in my apartment and start cooking more.
